Cultural Fest is a five-day family event showcasing the talents of Queensland’s most exciting music and dance entertainers, amazing foods, sports, arts, crafts and workshops. Hosted by the Townsville Intercultural Centre in partnership with Tabarsi Community Consultancy & The Townsville City Council the festival is a celebration of the vast diversity of influences that makes up Australian society.

Now in its 18th year Cultural Fest is one of the largest and most renowned festivals of its kind in Australia, attracting 80,000 guests and involving over 400 musical and performance groups, market stalls, food vendors, information stalls, community 

groups and associations.

It is the most inclusive festival in Australia involving groups as diverse as Middle Eastern belly dancers to Latino performing groups, everything from European, Middle Eastern and African cuisine to authentic Indigenous Australian tucker. Special features of the festival include a Samba Dance Finale, Tropical Street Carnivale and the Bollywood Night special event.

The Strand Townsville

Taking advantage of Townsville’s unique position Cultural Fest is held on the beautifil Strand Promenade on the beach front. Cultural Fest has an enviable locale with swaying palm trees, golden sand and beautiful ocean views looking over to stunning Magnetic Island all during Towsville's spectacular autumn weather of late August.

Our tropical paradise setting is being highlighted this year with the introduction of a beach volleyball competition, Ocean Village stalls and of course the Indigenous welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the Pacific Islander Canoes.

Unity in Diversity

Cultural Fest’s theme is ‘Unity in Diversity’ and bringing together people from all walks of life in the spirit of fun and friendship gives this festival it’s magical feeling.
