Location and Venue :
Rydges Southbank Townsville Hotel & Convention Centre is the Conference venue. Townsville provides the perfect location to explore all that beautiful North Queensland has to offer. With its relaxed, tropical atmosphere and world famous attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands, rainforests, country towns and historic outback, a visit to Townsville is an experience never to be forgotten.

Transport & Parking :
The conference venue is only 15 minutes from the Townsville airport and is within walking distance of the city, restaurants and tourist attractions. Free parking is available at the venue for all conference attendees. Shuttle buses will be available to transport delegates to the nearby Cultural Fest.
Climate :
Townsville’s August weather is generally fine and sunny with an average temperature of 20 – 28 degrees. Expect sunny days and cool evenings. Light smart casual clothing is recommended.
Eating out :
Townsville has numerous restaurants and cafes offering fine food in a relaxed, tropical setting. The Conference venue is located in the heart of the city’s restaurant precinct. The Cultural Fest offers 25 food stalls featuring cuisine from around the world including Indigenous, Pacific, Asian, Indian and others.

Cultural Fest 2010

The third International Unity in Diversity Conference is held in conjunction with the annual Cultural Fest. With the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’ Cultural Fest brings people from all walks of life together in the spirit of fun and friendship. During its 5 fun-filled days of dance, food, music, arts, workshops and sports the festival brings the Townsville region to life. The festival is a showcase of Australia’s most exciting music and dance entertainers. A record 80,000 people from a wide cross section of the community come together in a celebration of our diversity. Cultural Fest brings together more than 450 community and cultural groups as well as religious, environmental, business, government and media stakeholders making it the most inclusive festival in Australia.
