Tropical Fyah is a Cairns based Afro-Carib collective representing tropical music genres from Africa to the Caribbean that adds a fresh vibe to Townsville. Genres include Afrobeatz, Dancehall, Reggaeton, Soca , Latin Fusion and the more well known Reggae - both street and carnival styles.

Inspired by the evolution and translation of music from West Africa to the Caribbean islands through the slave (gold) trade, Tropical Fyah delivers high energy music you can't sit still to! The relatively new collective, forming in October 2016, is made up of musicians, deejays/selectas and dancers from Jamaica, Ghana, Sudan, Grenada/Trinidad & Tobago, Australia and UK- all residents of Cairns with varying social backgrounds that have all come together with a passion for all things AFRO-CARIB!

Tropical Fyah use the performing arts to engage in Community Development programs on a grass roots level, have a Caribbean kitchen for catering and have just finished a summer season from November to March at the Lilo Bar, Rydges Hotel in Cairns with the popular fortnightly family friendly rooftop pool party events with the Tropical Fyah soundsystem.

Tropical Fyah also run market stalls and pop up music and fashion events with their soundsystem and catering service, run Cairns Steel Pan Band (Cairns Panz) and can often be found at many other random events where Latin and/or African percussion is in demand!
