MESSAGE FROM CONFERENCE CONVENER

On behalf of the Conference Steering Committee and the Townsville Intercultural Centre, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the third annual International Unity in Diversity Conference, 19th and 20th August 2010 at Rydges Southbank Townsville Hotel and Convention
Centre.

The global economic crisis has forced humanity to consider reflecting on the
interdependencies and inherent oneness of human society with the knowledge that
current issues can only be resolved through a collective and holistic approach. The third
International Unity in Diversity Conference is a small attempt to realize this vision of
collaboration and communication as a cohesive human society.
The conference platform is open to a diverse range of issues that affect our way of life and
our immediate future with a particular focus on challenges that confront us within the
Asia-Pacific region. The significant relationship between environmental issues, economy,
gender relations, people movement, human rights and education has now become more
evident than ever before. We anticipate that this conference will provide an innovative
model of presenting social and cultural issues within the framework and context of unity
in diversity.
